Calico Ghost Town, an Old West Mining Adventure
HOMEEVENTSPRESSMUSEUMOHVTOWN MAPLINKS

The 1880's, one of the most colorful periods in American history. As a nation, we were just beginning to feel birth pangs of the 20th century. However, the American west was far from dead. Today, this bygone age lives on at Calico Ghost Town. Nestled in a quiet canyon, Calico's history is as rich as the silver ore taken from its mountains.

Here, you can relive the dreams of long-ago prospectors as you roam the tunnels of Maggie's Mine or climb aboard a railroad car destined for old workings to the north. Along the wooden sidewalks of Main Street, there are shops and attractions of every type. At each stop, you'll find everything from a ten-gallon hat to a three-course meal.

Just below town, in a secluded canyon, there's a 253 unit campground with cabins and a bunkhouse for extended visits. For the road-weary traveler, we've added modern conveniences that hardrock miners didn't enjoy 100 years ago.

This then is but a brief glimpse of our silver mining adventure ... discover it for yourself, and you'll agree that even as in 1881, she's still "pretty as a gal's Calico skirt".
